Black Ops 4 COUNTDOWN: Call of Duty Leaks, Reveal Stream start time, Zombies news, more

We're a few days out from Activision's big reveal for Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII.

No, that's not a typo - developer Treyarch has opted for the IIII version of the traditional numeral IV this time.

The game is going back to a more modern setting it seems, after going back in time with a World War II effort last year with Call of Duty WWII (developed by Sledgehammer Games).

Treyarch's newest effort hasn't been formally revealed just yet, so aside from a brief announcement from Activision, we know very little about the game.

That said, the good ol' gaming rumour mill has been working overtime with this new CoD, so ahead of the official reveal tomorrow, here's everything we know about the game so far.

How can you watch the Call of Duty Black Ops 4 livestream?

Activision and Treyarch will unveil the first big details about Black Ops 4 via a reveal event on May 17th.

The event will begin at 10 AM PDT / 1 PM EDT / 6 PM BST / 3 AM AEST (May 18th) and is available to watch via the Twitch embed below.

Will Call of Duty Black Ops 4 have a traditional single player campaign?

There are currently a lot of rumours doing the rounds that state Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will ship without a single-player campaign.

Originally reported by Polygon, the game will drop the traditional single-player offering from the title in favour of developer Treyarch focusing on expanding multiplayer and the series’ popular Zombies mode.

Polygon's source explains 'an emphasis on cooperative modes' as a stand-in for the typical single-player campaign experience.

Further rumours suggest Raven Software (who have ported various CoD games to newer platforms) will also furnish the title with a Battle Royale mode - similar to Fortnite or PUBG. These rumours haven't been confirmed by Activision who have issued the blanket statement:

“We don’t comment on rumor and speculation. We look forward to revealing Black Ops 4 on May 17th.”

Is Call of Duty Black Ops 4 going to have a Battle Royale Mode?

Activision has confirmed that it's aware of the popular trend of putting Battle Royale modes in games, and hinted that it's keen to do the same for Call of Duty this year.

Activision management explained to research firm Oppenheimer that it is "keenly aware" of the popularity of the battle royale trend, noting specifically that it's benefitted other publishers financially.

"The investment firm says Activision is keenly aware of how other game publishers have recently benefited from releasing titles [in the] popular 'battle royale' genre," the Wall Street Journal writer Sarah E. Needleman stated.

She continues to state: "Management reminded investors that the company is a faster follower."

It seems Activision is being spurred on to include Battle Royale modes - and that means we could likely see on in Black Ops 4

You can read more about that here.

Will Call of Duty Black Ops 4 still have Zombies?

It wouldn't be a modern Call of Duty game without Zombies mode.

At this point, it's pretty much confirmed that the game will have it - Activision itself has been pushing out a series of teases saying as much.

The teases have been showing weapons, and a Molotov cocktail.

The latest teaser is low quality and pixelated, showing a character wearing a robe and holding a bullet - maybe hinting at a previously teased occult/religious theme for this Zombies instalment.

The latest in the rumours surrounding Black Ops 4 seems to suggest the game will come to Nintendo Switch.

A Twitter user has posted images of a GameStop Switch case, with some Black Ops IIII artwork in.

This in itself doesn't suggest too much, but paired with previous rumours about the game coming to Nintendo Switch, it's certainly something to think about.

We expect to hear more at the reveal.
