The school had been placed on a “code red” lockdown but had no information on victims, a police spokeswoman said.
A source at the Broward Sheriff’s office told CNN the shooter remains at large.
Local FOX-10 TV reported that five people were seen being treated by paramedics while other students were seen walking away from the school in single file.
Some children remain locked in their classrooms within the school building, according to local reports.

There are 3,208 children in grades 9—12 enrolled at the school.
Coral Springs Police have warned people to avoid the area.
