Giroud made his first start for Chelsea since joining in January and grabbed an assist for Eden Hazard as the Blues beat West Brom 3-0.
Hazard got two on the night to take his goal tally for the season to 15 in all competitions while Courtois kept his 13th clean sheet of the campaign.
But both players have been in protracted contract talks without an agreement reached.
Real Madrid are understood to be very keen on both players but Giroud says Chelsea need to do whatever it takes to keep the duo.
Eden Hazard is a key player for Chelsea
I don’t have to say too much about their qualities because they show it again in this game. Obviously we need to keep them
He said: “They are very special players. They have been here a few years now and done a great job at the club.
“They are very good on the pitch but they are good guys as well. It’s very important to keep that kind of player for their leadership.
“I don’t have to say too much about their qualities because they show it again in this game. Obviously, we need to keep them.”
It was Giroud’s first appearance at Stamford Bridge since leaving Arsenal last month and the France striker says he wanted a new challenge.
Thibaut Courtois has spoken of his willingness to stay at Chelsea
“As a football player you need to move on and be ready from the first day at your new club. It’s a new challenge and it’s been special for me to leave Arsenal. I had five amazing years there but now it’s a new chapter of my career and I am focused 100 per cent on the Blues to reach our targets and I’m very happy to be here.
“I received a nice welcome and I’m very happy with that. I know that people support us and I will try to pay them back on the pitch. People want you to give the maximum in the shirt. I want to be efficient with assists and scoring.
“Obviously we don’t have too much time for the integration but I feel very good and the boys are very good to me. It’s been a while since I played regularly and that’s why I needed to move. I needed a new challenge and Chelsea was the perfect club for me.
“It’s the Premier League, a club which has won more titles in the past ten years than any other. It’s a massive club and I am very proud to be here and to carry on my career in the Premier League.”
