Chelsea transfer news: Gonzalo Higuain has agreed to quit Juventus
Chelsea want Juventus star Higuain who, in the wake of Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Turin, may finally chance his arm in the Premier League.
The Argentina international, who toiled as Jorge Sampaoli’s side endured a disastrous World Cup campaign, may be allowed to leave Juventus in the wake of Ronaldo’s move.
The player has previously been linked with Arsenal but Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport say Higuain has now agreed to join Chelsea.
Antonio Conte is expected to make way for Maurizio Sarri.
Sarri managed Higuain before during their time together at Napoli and wants his old forward to spearhead a new Stamford Bridge era.
Chelsea are primed to cut Alvaro Morata loose after he toiled last season.
And Michy Batshuayi is also facing an uncertain future in west London after being loaned to Borussia Dortmund last term.
Corrier dello Sport say Chelsea are set to land Higuain for a fee of £53million.
Should the deal go through, then he would become their first signing of the summer.
But whether Higuain yet stays at Juventus remains to be seen.
Much seems to hinge on whether Chelsea decide to bring Sarri in.
Speaking in December, Higuain admitted he would relish the chance to work under Sarri again.

“My affection for Sarri goes beyond football,” he said.
“He made me a better player, I will always be grateful to him.
“I care about him a great deal as a person and a coach, he is a fantastic coach and I wish him all the best.
“We always said that when we leave football, we’ll still keep in touch.
“Who knows, I could even work with him again at another club. That would be wonderful.”
