The comic book writer, 50, said in a new video for Collider that he saw a cut of the sequel back in February and is excited for fans to be taken by surprise.

Deadpool 2 is such a great time at the movies,” he said.

“The great thing about the trailers [is] there’s so much they’re not showing you, which is great.

“There’s so much you’re not seeing.”

Liefield also spoke about previous rumours saying the early screening reactions were not kind to the Ryan Reynolds-fronted sequel.

“When I saw it in February, I just thought, ‘wow, this amazing’,” he recalled.

“When the rumours came out – those are completely wrong.”

Liefield called for more R-rated comic book movies in the vein of Deadpool and Logan, saying they are indicative of a market studios could tap into, rather than anomalies.

“I just want [Deadpool 2] to succeed because it’s easy for money people to go, ‘these two, they’re anomalies, Logan and Deadpool’ – no! Deadpool 2!

“I think the more evidence that mounts… my hope, my ultimate dream, is for more R-rated stuff.”

Deadpool 2 is out next week and could be the movie that finally dethrones Avengers: Infinity War at the box office.
