Fortnite Blockbuster Week 3: Watch Replay challenge bug leaves fans waiting on update 4.2

Fortnite fans were given the brand new week 3 challenges this morning despite the fact that Epic Games decided to delay the new Fortnite 4.2 update and the server downtime required to release the new update.

Usually, this would take place at 9AM BST, but as the official Fortnite Twtter account had informed players last night, this was delayed, without any suggestion as to when it would be fixed.

The official message from the Fortnite Twitter account reads:

"We’ve discovered an issue that’s going to delay the release of v4.2. Due to this delay some quests may not function until the build releases.

"We’ll update you once we have a more accurate time frame."

At the time we believed this might have something to do with the release of the 'Search Rubber Duckies' challenge, but, that wasn't the case.

However, now fans believe they have found one of the quests which are impacted by this Fortnite Announcement.

The blockbuster challenge.

The new 'Blockbuster' challenges were introduced at the start of Season 4.

In short, complete all seven of the weekly challenges and you'll unlock special loading screen.

But there's more, in the loading screen is clues not only to "add to the narrative of Season 4" but also to find an additional Battle Star in the games map.

In the first week the battle star location was hidden, very faintly, in the first image.

For the second week, coordinates were etched onto the prison wall in the image, which in turn lead players to the location of the second Battle Star.

This week, there's nothing. Fans have found that on completion of the seven Week 3 challenges, the loading screen is just a placeholder.

A big, pink, placeholder. You can see it here on the Fortnite Reddit group.

At first, some fans thought this was nothing more than another very elaborate trick by the games developers.

However, in lieu of any obvious clues in the image, fans are now starting to think that this might be a genuine placeholder image.

If so, the loading screen might not go live until later today, after the new v4.2 update goes live.

Other players have reported issues with the Replay Challenge being broken, so perhaps that is the cause of the issue.

Either way, it doesn't look like we'll be able to complete the new Blockbuster challenge anytime soon.

Stay tuned for further details, hopefully when Epic Games have fixed the issue and launched the new 4.2 update.
