Jose Mourinho is on the lookout for fresh talents with new defenders and a new-look midfield said to be on his agenda.
Phil Jones, Matteo Darmian and Chris Smalling face uncertain futures across the backline, while Marouane Fellaini and Juan Mata could depart with the retiring Michael Carrick.
And it seems Napoli full-back Faouzi Ghoulam could be the next arrival through the door at Old Trafford to balance the books of their outgoing stars.
The 27-year-old has enjoyed an impressive season with the Italian giants, helping Napoli to second place in Serie A.
But it seems his agent Jorge Mendes is working on a deal to take him away from Italy.
Faouzi Ghoulam is reportedly edging closer to joining Manchester United
RAI Sport journalist Ciro Venerato has revealed there is already a ‘half agreement’ in place for Ghoulam to move to United.
“Is Ghoulam covered by Manchester United? Yes, he’s a champion, and despite the injury, he remains a man on the transfer market. United keep thinking about him,” he said.
“Between October and November, there was already a half agreement with Jorge Mendes to bring Alex Grimaldo (from Benfica) in blue (to Napoli) and Ghoulam to Manchester, but everything still needs to be concluded.”
Jose Mourinho is looking to splash the cash this summer
Mendes boasts an impressive list of clients and has previously worked with United in securing deals for Cristiano Ronaldo and Falcao in the past.
And it seems Mendes will return to the table this summer as he looks to secure Ghoulam a high-profile transfer.
Ghoulam, who is under contract with Napoli until 2022, would likely replace Ashley Young at left-back if he completed a move to Old Trafford.
