Kingdom Hearts 3 adds retro mini-games
Kingdom Hearts 3 developer Square Enix has revealed an unexpected new feature for the upcoming release.
During the first ever Kingdom Hearts community gathering event in North America, Square Enix revealed a brand new gameplay trailer.
The trailer gives fans their first look at a selection of brand new mini-games, which are referred to as ‘Classic Kingdom’.
Inspired by classic Disney cartoons and 1980s LCD games, the mini-games will seemingly be accessible through an in-game handheld.
You can take a closer look at the games in the gallery below and by checking out the trailer further down the page.
The only thing that was missing from the event was the Kingdom Hearts 3 release date, which remains a mystery.
Interestingly, however, US retailer Target may have leaked the launch date.
The retailer advertised the game with a November 1 release date, before changing it to a placeholder date of December 31.
Meanwhile, another report suggests Kingdom Hearts 3’s launch date will be revealed at E3.
This is based on a Japanese Square Enix Twitter fan page that marks the Kingdom Hearts 3 release date for an E3 reveal.
Square Enix recently confirmed that the Monsters, Inc crew would appear in the game alongside the return of the Gummi Ship.
The biggest difference, however, is that Gummi Ship sections will be split into two phases for combat and exploration.
The game is likely to take centre stage at this year’s E3 gaming expo.
In fact, the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra plans to kick off its world tour in Los Angeles on June 9 – just days before the start of E3.
