Jurgen Klopp still has 10 days to prepare Liverpool for the Champions League final

Those are the thoughts of ITV Sport pundit Lee Dixon, who recalled the advice he was given by his former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

After securing a top-four finish on the final day of the Premier League season with a handsome 4-0 win over Brighton, still have 10 days to prepare for the European showdown against Real on May 26 in Kiev.

In order to keep themselves sharp in the build-up to the final, Jurgen Klopp’s men touched down in Spain yesterday to undergo a four-day training camp in Marbella.

With the devastating form of Mohamed Salah, the Reds will fancy their chances against Los Blancos, who are aiming to win the competition for the 13th time in total and for the third year on the trot.

Don’t let your emotions overtake your expectations. Arsene Wenger said that once

Dixon was no stranger to the big occasion during his time with the Gunners and he thinks that Wenger’s pearls of wisdom should be remembered by the Anfield outfit.

“Don’t let your emotions overtake your expectations,” Dixon said on the Europa League highlights show when asked how Liverpool should approach the game.

“Arsene Wenger said that once. I have never forgotten it.”

Discussing in greater detail the best strategy for the Reds to adopt in preparation for the final, he added: “You have to block out your family and friends.

“You can laugh and joke about it but you don’t let the inner core of your brain engage in it.

“Leading into this final, they’ve got a great chance of hurting Real Madrid with that back four they’ve got.

“There will be goals at both ends, but it is about who manages the game better.”

Liverpool are looking to lift the European Cup for the sixth time and they are competing in the final for the first time since 2007.
