Mohamed Salah praise
06:30: Mohamed Salah is probably Liverpool’s best signing over the past 15 years.
That is the verdict of talkSPORT pundit Micky Quinn.
Quinn has been thoroughly impressed with Salah and thinks he’s probably one of the most significant signings the club has made.
When comparing Salah to Anfield legends such as Fernando Torres and Luis Suarez, Quinn told talkSPORT: “Luis [Suarez] was an unbelievable player, but he came with a lot of baggage – this kid has no baggage.
“Fernando Torres was a breath of fresh air when he came to Liverpool and scored spectacular goals, be he was an out-and-out centre-forward and Salah is a midfielder.
“With Coutinho, I think he was yet to really fulfil his potential at Liverpool and he probably will do with Barcelona, but Salah now is at the very top of his game.
“I think he’s been one of the most important Liverpool signings and probably the best Liverpool signing in the last ten to 15 years.”

I don’t think he has stepped up recently but maybe it is more obvious because his situations are not overshadowed by Phil Coutinho’s situations
Roberto Firmino claim
06:00: Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp believes Philippe Coutinho’s departure last month has helped highlight the true impact Roberto Firmino has on his Liverpool side.
Firmino is enjoying his most fruitful campaign in front of goal since joining Liverpool in 2015.
The Brazilian forward took his tally for the season to 20 goals in all competitions in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Southampton and he has also provided 11 assists.
But Klopp isn’t surprised at Firmino’s upturn in form, suggesting Coutinho’s departure has helped put the 26-year-old more into the spotlight.
“When I came in I said immediately that I was happy Roberto was here,” Klopp said.
“I don’t think he has stepped up recently but maybe it is more obvious because his situations are not overshadowed by Phil Coutinho’s situations. That’s how it is.”
05:30: Liverpool and Real Madrid have reportedly suffered a set-back in their pursuit of Alisson.
The Roma goalkeeper is close to penning a new contract in the Italian capital with a huge release clause of €90million (£80m), according to Calcio Mercato.
Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius have been less than convincing on Merseyside and Jurgen Klopp was thought to be searching for a new number one.
Calcio Mercato add that Alisson is asking for €5m (£4.4m) to remain with Roma.
And that is a stark contrast to the €1.5m (£1.3m) he currently earns.
Jurgen Klopp was coy about Simon Mignolet’s future
Jurgen Klopp quizzed on Simon Mignolet future
05:00: Jurgen Klopp has dodged questions about Simon Mignolet’s future at Liverpool.
Liverpool have had problems finding a first-choice goalkeeper ever since Pepe Reina’s departure to Bayern Munich in 2014.
Simon Mignolet has at times stamped his authority on the No 1 jersey but is prone to errors and was dropped by Jurgen Klopp last month.
And when asked if Mignolet’s recent lack of involvement meant he could be on his way out at Anfield, Klopp was coy in his response.
“Nobody knows about his future. I don’t know about it,” he said.
