Marcus Rashford goal

Marcus Rashford scored the first two goals for Manchester United against Liverpool

That is the opinion of Manchester United legend Gary Neville, who was commentating on the game.

Rashford was handed his first Premier League start of 2018 with Anthony Martial injured and Jesse Lingard dropped to the bench.

The England international opened the scoring after 14 minutes, beating Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold one-on-one and smashing expertly past goalkeeper Loris Karius.

Less than 10 minutes later Rashford had another, this time his shot deflected off the unfortunate Alexander-Arnold to once again leave Karius helpless.

Neville says Rashford, whose future has been in doubt due to his lack of game time, has provided a perfect response.

On the first goal, Neville said: “It’s so simple the start of it I have to say.

“He’s made runs in behind Alexander-Arnold in this first 10-15 minutes and the full-back has not coped with it.

“Once he gets him in the box, he’s in trouble, big trouble.

“Brilliant run, brilliant turn, and the finish is even better.

“Karius has absolutely no chance.”
