Hearthstone won’t be coming to Nintendo Switch
Hearthstone fans have been given some bad news about a possible Nintendo Switch port.
The popular Blizzard card game has always seemed like a good fit for Switch, which makes Blizzard’s latest update particularly disappointing.
Asked by Power-Up Gaming about a possible Nintendo Switch port, Hearthstone game designer Dean Ayala gave a pretty definitive response.
“There are no plans to move HearthStone to the Nintendo Switch,” he said.
It’s a far cry from last year, when Blizzard said that a Switch port was a discussion worth having.
Senior game designer Mike Donais told Express Online: “I personally haven’t talked about it but I’m more focused on card design.
“Hearthstone is available on iPads and phones, so it’s a good discussion worth having.”
The success of the Nintendo Switch has seen multiple third-party releases appear on the console.
Nintendo Switch owners will be able to play Dark Souls Remastered in April, followed by Pillars of Eternity 2 Deadfire later this year.
There’s even talk of GTA 5 and the original Red Dead Redemption getting a Switch port, although Rockstar is yet to confirm the rumours.
The rumours all started after Take-Two president Karl Slatoff said that the company was impressed by Switch console sales.
No further projects were announced for the console, although it was noted that the GTA 5 publisher would continue to monitor the situation surrounding the Switch.
Bandai Namco is also rumoured to be working on a high-profile Nintendo Switch game.
According to the LinkedIn profile of a Bandai Namco developer, the company’s Singapore studio is working on Metroid Prime 4 and Ridge Racer 8.
Even better is that Ridge Racer 8 is said to be exclusive to Nintendo Switch.
Bandai Namco is yet to make any official announcement, but the series is certainly due a comeback, having last appeared in 2012.
