The new Pokemon Go event is now live, with a full week of Kanto rewards available
Niantic have updated their hit Android and iOS app with plenty of new rewards.
These are all based around the Kanto region, meaning better spawns for the original starter Pokemon.
The new Pokemon Go event is also providing players with a healthy amount of Candy from performing transfers and catches in the wild.
The new event has now begun in the UK, although fans may have to wait until tomorrow to get all the best bonuses.
The special Kanto event celebrations will continue until April 17, they also overlap with the upcoming Community Day.
Certain Pokemon such as Aerodactyl and Snorlax will be featured in Raid Battles across the world, with the option open to add new encounters over the coming days.
During this event, there will also be special boxes containing Raid Passes, which have yet to be assessed by the community of Trainers.
Fans are also hoping that new Shiny Pokemon pop up during the event, which aren’t usually announced by Niantic.
Trainers recently discovered that a lot of the Kanto region Pokemon now have their Shiny 3D assets in the game.
So Niantic now have the opportunity to release whichever of the original 151 Pokemon they think should have a Shiny moment this week.
It doesn’t mean it will happen, but it will be worth fans looking out for potential sightings.
Even if no Shiny reports come in today, Niantic could always release them throughout the event, like they have done with past celebrations.
If no Shiny Pokemon do appear, Trainers will have to be content with grabbing and evolving a Shiny Mareep on April 15.
Some Trainers are hoping to see some unusual Pokemon this week, while others believes Niantic will be saving their best for another time.
“I speculated it as a possibility because some Pokemons’ shiny release won’t garner any hype on their own, like pidgey or rattata.
“I doubt they’ll be featured in an event or community day (and that’d take forever) so it makes sense that they might release less exciting ones in big batches… perhaps per generation.
“Then to have a Kanto event where a bunch of sprites changed/ shiny forms added fits the description.
“But I doubt it now, seeing as not all of the kanto shinies were added and a bunch of gen 2 was added at the same time.”
