Pokemon Nintendo Switch release date: News announcement coming in the NEXT 10 days?

We could be getting more news about the Pokemon Switch RPG in the next 10 days.

If you look back to previous Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, both 3DS games were announced the day before Nintendo's investor's meeting for the financial year 13/14.

This was because some details about the game were shared at the meeting itself: Nintendo wanted to formally reveal the game before it leaked thanks to details shared in the meeting.

The reveal itself wasn't that exciting - it was just a little bit of footage and a release date, complete with some box art - but it still let people know a new Pokemon game as coming in the same year.

If Nintendo wanted to do the same thing this year - formally reveal the game's name and release date before the investor's meeting - they're going to want to announce within the next 10 days.

Previously, we saw the teaser for the game originally go live on Pokémon Get☆TV (thanks, Serebii) so if we do see the Pokemon announcement drop soon, we could see it via Japanese channels first.

Either way, we'll keep you updated as soon as anything drops.

This comes after what appears to be a new leak surfaced this month - though its authenticity is hotly debated by Pokemon fans on various fan sites around the internet.

PokeJungle reports it has received images of a working Pokemon Switch game demo.

An image from the supposed demo has surfaced online, showing a Pokemon trainer riding a Lapras, with other Pokemon (assumedly wild) visible in the overworld map. It looks like it's set on a Water route - possibly around Cinnabar Town if the Kanto rumours are correct.

The images supposedly show some of the game features like PokeRide, ability to ride a Pokemon in the overworld.

"A trainer uses Lapras to navigate a water-based trail. The bulky gear that Lapras wore in Generation VII is gone, but the trainer still appears to have a helmet and sports outfit on while riding," reads the original PokeJungle report.

Twitter account @PixelPar, a video game leaker, has offered to help verify the leaked images, but PokeJungle has declined as per an agreement with the initial leaker.

It remains unclear whether or not the image is real - and we're cautious to post the actual image here in case it was originally a breach of contract from the source -but a quick Google will show you the image and more theories about where it came from.

Pokemon Nintendo Switch - What we know so far

A new Pokemon game is due to release on the Nintendo Switch - we know that for certain.

But the release date has been kept a secret by publisher Nintendo and developer Game Freak.

New comments from staffers close to the series suggest Nintendo's successful new console could see the highly-anticipated Pokemon game release this year, however.

Speaking to Japanese magazine Famitsu (with quotes via GoNintendo), Game Freak designer Kazumasa Iwao has stated that the company intends to 'hype up' the long-running franchise in 2018.

His quote to the magazine reads:

“Happy New Year. In 2017 we were able to release Pokemon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, and we express our deep gratitude to everyone who has been playing it. In 2018 we will still continue to hype up Pokemon, so please look forward to it.”
