PS4 update 5.55 is out now on PlayStation

owners can download a brand new hardware update.

Sony has released patch notes for update 5.55, which is live for all PlayStation 4 owners.

Sadly, however, there’s still no sign of the PSN name changing feature, which is expected to launch later this year.

Instead, PS4 firmware update 5.55 has been released in a bid to “improve system performance”.

It’s hardly the most exciting of updates, although it only weighs in at around 440MB, so it shouldn’t take long to download.

Hopefully the next PS4 system update will be a little more substantial.

The news comes as Sony launches a bumper new ‘Games Under £16’ PS4 sale.

The ‘Games Under £16’ sale is live for PS4 users until May 23, so there’s plenty of time to grab some bargains.

The sale includes the likes of Alien Isolation, Fallout 4, Prey and Battlefield 4 Premium Edition.

That’s on top of cult hits like Journey, Little Nightmares and Payday 2.

There’s even a host of Telltale bundles in there, such as Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead and Batman.
