Queen Letizia of Spain, 45, is the stunning brunette royal who is often compared to Kate Middleton.

Both of the stunning women who won the hearts of two crown prince’s do not come from royal backgrounds.

However, Kate Middleton has never been embroiled in the kind of family drama that is currently reported to be taking place among the Spanish royals.

Queen Letizia and her mother-in-law Queen Sofia , 79, were caught appearing to fight in a video that then went viral.

The wife of King King Felipe VI appeared to move her mother-in-law’s arm from her daughter Leonor’s shoulder roughly.

The video of Queen Letizia and Queen Sofia shocked Spaniards and royal fans around the world.

It also appeared to stir a strong response in distant family member and royal Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece.

The 49-year-old, born in the UK, is married to Pavlos, Crown Prince of Greece.

After the video, taken at church on Easter Sunday, circulated online, Princess Marie-Chantal tweeted: “This makes me feel so angry!”

She later wrote: “No grandmother deserves that type of treatment! Wow, she’s [Queen Letizia] shown her true colours.”

She also posted an image of her own extended family on the social media website, and wrote: “Happy grandparents! Family is what it’s all about.”

However, not all her Twitter fans were too pleased with the apparent dig at Letizia.

One wrote: "It was one picture, we don’t know what was happening. Maybe what you did wasn’t royal as well.

“Publicly shaming your husband’s cousin’s wife. Who by the way, is the true queen.”

Another said: “Remember she is the Queen of Spain and you are not, not even a queen, maybe that´s the problem…”

Queen Letizia: Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece commented on Queen Sofia spat

Respected Spanish daily El Mundo described it as a royal tiff.

It said: “For the first time in four years, Juan Carlos joined the rest of the Spanish Royal Family for the celebration of the last day of Easter.

“However, the perfect harmony they demonstrated at the doors of Palma Cathedral appears not to have been so, certainly at one particular moment.”

Crown Prince Pavlos is a nephew of Queen Sofia, which is perhaps what caused the strong response from Princess Marie-Chantal.

Marie-Chantal has her own international children’s wear company and writes a blog that covers topics such as fashion and diets.
