Tourists and locals have been spotted using surfboards and makeshift rafts to make their way down the main roads o Kuta, in Bali, after flash flooding caused havoc.

The once-bustling streets of Kuta, in Bali, have been deserted as flash floods and heavy rain force tourists to paddle down the main roads.

With the resort island deep in its wet season, Australian tourists and locals have been spotted making their way down the streets on surfboards and other floating devices.

Heavy rain has caused mudslides and put increasing pressure on the island’s drains.

Even locals were forced to throw together a make shift raft in order to paddle down the main streets

‘It’s a bit of a pain in the bum, we’re trying to get around to Kuta, it’s terrible,’ one Australian tourist told 7 News.

‘He’s trying to sell me a surfboard so I can cut straight through.’

The roads have been transformed into rivers and residents in some low-lying regions have been forced to evacuate.

Rescue crews were called in with inflatable boats to help those stranded in flood waters.

While the flash flooding only lasted a few days, with the rain clearing on Wednesday, many roads remain strewn with debris.

Water levels are expected to drop as locals begin the big clean up.
