The Vietnamese wife of slain criminal lawyer Ho Ledinh still doesn’t know that the father of her three young children is dead.

Ngo Thu Huong, 30, hopped on a plane with her children at 2am Vietnam time, after her friends and family told her the man she loved was in hospital.

Family friend Vivian Vo told Daily Mail Australia the young woman ‘needed to get to Australia so they could tell her about his death because she would fall apart’.

‘She was crying a lot when we told her he was very sick,’ she said.

‘Two men are picking her up from the airport and they will tell her he is dead then.

‘It would have been to dangerous to tell her because she needs to be here.’

According to the woman, Mr Ledinh was ‘everything’ to his young wife – who moved to Australia to be with him after they met in the Happy Cup coffee shop.

‘She wouldn’t have read about his death yet either because she doesn’t speak English.

‘She will be very confused when she gets home.’

Police and forensic detectives have spent the day investigating the heinous crime scene.

At 5.30 on Wednesday afternoon detectives arrived again, this time putting on their blue plastic gloves to search the back of the premises.

Neighbouring business owners have paused by the crime scene, still stained with the prominent lawyer’s blood, to show their respects.

A man from the Vietnamese bakery across the road explained why he left cake at the site.

‘It was what he would eat when he came here, he always ordered the same so I leave it to him, his last treats,’ he said.

In CCTV footage handed to investigators, the mystery shooter could be seen taking a swig out of a water bottle prior to the brazen shooting.

Blood marks were smeared on the floor tiles of the cafe where Mr Ledinh was shot, with tables sitting out the front still holding the cups of juice and cigarette-filled ash-trays which had been set down on them yesterday afternoon.

The accomplished lawyer worked just 50m away up the road from the franchise store.
