Reigns and Lashley may be in the main event as they got plenty of air time last Monday night on RAW where they had an intense confrontation as well as a big brawl and then featured in separate interviews.
According to Give Me Sport, if the two RAW super heavyweights close the show then we will see the first ever match in history to main event the Pay-Per-View show without any sort of stipulation included.
Extreme Rules is considered the most hardcore WWE event of the year and tends to close with various gruelling contests involving a steel cage, chairs, ladders and tables.
But this year the main event will be a Singles Match if Reigns and Lashley are placed on the top of the card.

There are, however, other matches with interesting stipulations that could headline the event such as the RAW Women’s Championship bout.
Alexa Bliss will defend the title against Nia Jax in an Extreme Rules Match that will see Ronda Rousey watching from the front row at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Dolph Ziggler will also put the Intercontinental Championship against former title-holder Seth Rollins in a 30-Minute Iron Man Match that could indeed steal the show.

New Mr Money in the Bank Braun Strowman will battle Kevin Owens in a Steel Cage Match two weeks after locking him in a portable toilet and knocking him off the RAW stage.
The show will kick off with an interesting Tables Match that will feature Kofi Kingston, Big E and Xavier Woods of the New Day taking on Sanity’s Eric Young, Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dain.
