Crackdown Xbox One X delay
Xbox One X users have been dealt a blow ahead of Microsoft’s E3 conference.
Just days away from its media showcase, Microsoft has announced a huge new delay for one of its blockbuster Xbox One games.
While Crackdown 3 is expected to take centre stage during this year’s E3 gaming expo, Microsoft has announced that it won’t launch until 2019.
After rumblings of a delay surfaced earlier this week, Microsoft told Windows Central that the game would be released next February.
“Our fans’ response to the signature antics and explosive gameplay of Crackdown 3 has been incredible,” reads a Microsoft statement.
“To ensure we deliver the experience they deserve, Crackdown 3 will be launching in February 2019.
“We look forward to sharing more on Crackdown 3 this Sunday during the Xbox E3 2018 briefing.”
Crackdown 3 will now be pitted against PS4 exclusive Days Gone, which is also pencilled in for February 2019.
Despite the delay, Microsoft is hyping this year’s E3 conference as its biggest yet.
Halo 6 is expected to be announced, potentially alongside a new game in the Gears of War series.
One thing that’s almost certain to be announced is Forza Horizon 4, which is likely to launch later this year.
Crackdown 3, meanwhile, has been tipped to have a battle royale mode, which could explain the delay.
Microsoft will broadcast “a new battle royale experience” as part of its HypeZone show, so stay tuned for more information.
Microsoft’s E3 conference takes place this Sunday at 1pm local time.
This means UK fans can tune in at 9pm BST to keep up to date with the new game announcements.
The company will also showcase its new releases at the Microsoft Theatre, which will be open to E3 badge holders on June 12 and June 13.
